Contrary to many opinion, Middle Orient doesnt mean only Islam.There, where in fact, christianity appeared, are many christians. In a small number after arab expansion and the period of turkish empire, these christians successed to resist betwen muslims and jews.
There are christians in Lebanon, Syria, Irak, so on. And must be remembered also the coptic christians, around 8 milions, in Egypt. Their way to understand christianity is very oriental and very interesting. Before arab expansion, the Middle Orient was the land where many saints lives, like St.Ephrem the Syrian and there is the place where christian great mystics appeared. So listen one of the christian songs from this area, “Wa Habibi”. I choosed a very sad version of this song(used also by catholics and orthodox in midlle orient). The video is from the movie The Passion of the Christ, directed by Mel Gibson. The images are terrible, and even some people say that are exagerated , i say that described very well the sufferences of Jesus Christ.
